Philanthropy

  • The men of Pi Kappa Alpha firmly believe that it is important to raise money for organizations including disease research and prevention, aid for the homeless and other nonprofit organizations that are established to better our community.  Unlike many Greek organizations, Pi Kappa Alpha is unique because we don't have a set national philanthropy.  We raise money for organizations that our members can relate to and are passionate about donating to.  Since we have been at UNC Greensboro, we have raised money for Greensboro Urban Ministry, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Alzheimer's Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation and every semester, we continue to support other organizations who are fundraising for their philanthropic efforts.

    Some events include:

    Pike Spike:

A volleyball tournament held during the first couple of weeks of the fall semester. It is a great event that helped raise $447 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Everyone, competitor or spectator, had a great time and enjoyed the matches.

    Karaoke for the Kure:

Pi Kappa Alpha and Chi Omega teamed up in October to raise money for the Susan G. Koeman Breast Cancer Foundation. The event had its ups and downs but raised $219 for a great cause.

    Pike's Prison:

A very successful event that raised $525.64 for the Kids Against Hunger Organization. Each quarter raised bought a child a full meal, that's 2,102 meals in just 2 days.
